Step 1
Heat a pan to medium-high heat.
Step 2
Add the slices of bacon and cook until brown and crunchy. Rest the bacon on a plate or paper towel. Drain the bacon grease into a container.
Step 3
Add the hamburger patty to the same pan. Spice the patty with whatever you desire.
I like to cover the patty with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Step 4
While the first side is cooking slice or dive your onion and place it on the grill. If you're burger isn't very fatty add a little oil to the pan first.
Step 5
Flip the burger when blood starts to pool up on the top of the patty (around 5 minutes). Then spice the patty again and toss on your piece of cheese. Once the cheese is melted the patty should be ready. Usually about 5 minutes in for a thoroughly cooked patty. Let the patty rest with the bacon.
Step 6
Remove the onion from the pan when it looks nice and charred.
Step 7
Slice the lettuce and add to a bowl. Then dice up the bacon, tomato, avocado, and pickles and add to the bowl. Toss in the onion as well.
Step 8
Chop up the patty into small bite sized pieces and toss into the bowl.
Step 9
Drizzle mustard and balsamic vinegar over the top, along with any other condiments you like. I sometimes add ketchup.
I don’t miss the buns at all! This is so much easier to eat and I don’t feel icky after from the bread.
